Transformer Partial Discharge Testing
DigiStano provides partial discharge diagnostic support for power and distribution transformers. The scope considers transformer construction, available connections, site interference and the reason for the investigation.
Plan the measurement
Start with the asset and the question.
Tell us whether you are preparing for commissioning, investigating a concern or establishing a condition baseline.
- Transformer type, rated voltage and power rating
- Reason for the investigation and operating history
- Existing diagnostic reports and relevant alarms
- Available measurement connections and outage constraints
Engineering scope
From the test plan to the findings.
Review
Review asset information and previous diagnostic evidence.
Plan
Agree the measurement scope, access and responsibilities.
Assess
Review observed activity with relevant test or operating conditions.
Explain
Discuss observations, limitations and suitable follow-up.
Project requirements
A scope you can review before the visit.
Agree the assets, measurement approach, access, applicable project specifications and reporting requirements.
Does a PD measurement give the complete condition of a transformer?
PD testing addresses one aspect of insulation behaviour. It should be considered alongside operating history, other diagnostic results and the assessment objective.
What should the report address?
Agree the reporting requirements in the proposal: asset identification, test arrangement, relevant conditions, observations, interpretation, limitations and recommended follow-up.
Before you request testing
Prepare your PD testing request
Use our checklist to share the asset details, access constraints and objective so the engineering team can scope your assessment accurately.
Start with a conversation
Plan your power transformers assessment.
Tell us the asset, location and testing objective. Our engineering team will help define the next step.
